Politics is not something ever discussed at CTV Studios, but this bill in Congress can sweep Cooper TV off the web.
S.O.P.A. (Stop Online Piracy Act) is a bill in the United States House Of Representatives. There is a bill like it in the Senate called PIPA (Protect IP Act). These bills, if they become laws, could ruin the internet for the world.
I will discus two things about SOPA; How it will fail at its purpose, and how many, many internet users will suffer.
So what’s what this commotion over SOPA about? SOPA is supposed to prevent websites from distributing copyrighted material (this is called Piracy). But really, it just blocks their URL address domain. Web Pirates can just change their IP and be back on the net posting illegal stuff.
The way SOPA is written, it doesn’t define what websites can be busted for piracy. So websites like Google, YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, Cooper TV Studios, etc. can suffer if someone merely posts a comment linking to copyrighted material. This will mostly cause my YouTube account to suffer, because I don’t own any of the things I post. What the bill does is, it finds websites that contain copyrighted material, and tells Internet Service Providers, search engines, etc. to CENSOR that site. This will hurt the economy, small businesses, LPers (like myself) and other video makers because they can be sent to jail for just having copyrighted music playing in the background of a video! It’s crazy! Even children are subject to cruelty of this failure of a bill. Congress, didn’t you learn ANYTHING from the 18th Amendment? I guess not.
TL;DR: Basically, SOPA fails. All who post stuff they don’t own will suffer. Don’t let it pass. Stop this abomination.
The House votes on SOPA in January 2012. The Senate votes on PIPA on Jan. 23. Don’t let them censor our internet. No one owns the internet. It’s the World Wide Web. The American government doesn’t have the right to control it. It’s for everyone.
My message to you is this: SOPA will break the internet (Literally, the US will mess up the web’s coding and break the internet), and we can’t let it happen. Take action. Take a stand. Thank you.

On January 23, 2012, all videos on the Coopersmadog’s Youtube Account will be removed in order to prevent legal problems in case PIPA or SOPA pass. Hopefully they can be back up on the 25th.
